Windows 11 and the Intelligent Evolution of its File Explorer
Imagine browsing File Explorer and encountering a cleaner, more organized context menu tailored to your actual needs. This is precisely what Windows 11 is achieving by simplifying the right-click menu. The key? Removing the options from AI Actions when these are not active or when there are no artificial intelligence actions available for the file in question.
Previously, these AI options remained visible at all times, even if they weren't practically useful at the time, making the menu look cluttered and somewhat confusing. Now, with the recent Windows 11 Build 26220.7344 update, Microsoft has decided that if these features aren't enabled or relevant, they simply disappear from the context menu. The result: a much cleaner and more efficient interface that improves the user experience.
From Functions to Simplicity
The AI actions menu in Windows 11 used to offer tools to blur images, remove objects, or perform visual searches with Bing directly from the context menu. However, these actions actually opened applications like Paint or Photos to complete the task, making them not always useful when you needed them.
By removing these options when they're not applicable, Microsoft is sending a clear message: less is more. The context menu now more accurately reflects what you can do at any given moment, without distractions or options that add unnecessary noise and complexity.
The Split Context Menu Design: Order in Every Click
This visual cleanup is part of a broader strategy called Split Context Menu, a design that groups similar commands into a single expandable element. Thanks to this innovation, the context menu can be reduced to as little as 38%, displaying only the most relevant actions based on the selected file.
This approach not only improves aesthetics but also functionality, as users find exactly what they need without wasting time navigating through redundant options.
A More Efficient and User-Friendly Explorer
In short, by not displaying AI actions when they are not useful or are disabled, Windows 11 has taken a significant step toward a cleaner and more efficient File Explorer. This update reflects Microsoft's commitment to user experience, focusing on intelligent interfaces that adapt their behavior to actual needs.
If you haven't yet experienced this improvement, we encourage you to keep your system updated to take advantage of a more agile and functional browser that adapts to you with every click.
What do you think of this evolution of Explorer? Do you believe simplicity is the key to a better digital experience?
